Loving Like Jesus
Jesus loved everyone, and he showed that love through his actions. When the Pharisees brought a woman who had committed adultery to Jesus they asked him, “The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?” (John 8:5). Jesus said, “let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!” (John 8:7).
It is easy to love people that think like us or act like us. But that is not the kind of love that Jesus had. He loved people who were considered by society to be undesirable or unlovable, like prostitutes and tax collectors. For Jesus, love knew no boundaries. He had the ability to view them as God intended—as cherished creations.
The actions of Jesus are an example for us to love others regardless of our biases or prejudices. Every day we have opportunities to express our love to others if we open our eyes and hearts.
To love someone means to see him as God intended him. –Fyodor Dostoevsky
