10 Happiest States in US/Cities in the World


Gallup has just released its annual report of the ten happiest states in the U.S. The Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index surveys 1000 people a day for 350 days of the year. The survey asks about such things as physical health, emotional health, health care, food, and overall life satisfaction.

This year, Hawaii was once again determined to be the happiest state. The top ten happiest states are:

  1. Hawaii
  2. Colorado
  3. Minnesota
  4. Utah
  5. Vermont
  6. Nebraska
  7. Montana
  8. New Hampshire
  9. Iowa
  10. Massachusetts 

The least happiest states are:

  1. Nevada
  2. Indiana
  3. Louisiana
  4. Ohio
  5. Alabama
  6. Arkansas
  7. Tennessee
  8. Mississippi
  9. Kentucky
  10. West Virginia

in 2009, the Anholt-GfK Roper City Brands Index also conducted a study to determine the ten happiest cities in the world. The results were:
