America’s Mood Map: An Interactive Guide

A new study conducted by the University of Cambridge over a period of 13 years has revealed that moods in America are generally drawn by region. The research determined that the West Coast, Rocky Mountains and Sun Belt were usually described as “relaxed and creative”; the South and Midwest as “friendly and conventional”; and New England and the Mid-Atlantic states tended to be “temperamental and uninhibited”. Wisconsin ranked highest on extroversion, Utah was most agreeable, South Carolina was most conscientious, and West Virginia was the most neurotic.
